Google AdSense is the advertising programme that will generate revenue from your site. This guide walks you through the application process step by step — no technical knowledge required.
Google AdSense is a free programme run by Google that allows website owners to earn money by displaying advertisements. When a visitor to your site sees or clicks on an advert, Google pays you a share of the advertising revenue. You do not need to find advertisers yourself — Google handles everything automatically, matching adverts to your content and your visitors.
Your site already has AdSense ad zones built into every calculator page — the grey placeholder boxes you can see. Once your application is approved, these will automatically display real adverts and begin generating income.
Financial calculator sites typically earn between £2 and £8 per 1,000 page views (known as RPM — Revenue Per Mille). As your site grows in traffic, so does your income. The more calculators you add and the more visitors you attract, the more you earn.
Visit adsense.google.com and click 'Get started'. Sign in with your Google account — use the same account you use for Gmail or YouTube if you have one. If you do not have a Google account, you will need to create one first (it is free).
Type in your website address: https://www.calculators-now.com — make sure to include the https:// at the start. Select your country (United Kingdom) and accept the AdSense Terms and Conditions.
Google will give you a small piece of code (a script tag) to add to your website. This is called the AdSense verification code. Copy the code and send it to me — I will add it to the site's <head> section for you within minutes.
Once the code is added, Google will review your site. This typically takes between 1 and 14 days. They check that your site has enough original content, follows their policies, and is suitable for advertising. Your site currently meets these requirements.
While waiting for approval, complete your AdSense account by adding your payment details. Google pays by bank transfer (BACS in the UK). You will need your bank account number and sort code. Google pays monthly, but only once your earnings reach the £60 payment threshold.
When approved, Google will email you. The ad placeholders already built into your site will automatically start showing real ads. No further technical work is needed — the ads are managed entirely by Google.
When Google gives you the AdSense verification code in Step 3, copy it and paste it into a message to me here. I will add it to the site immediately. The code looks something like this:<script async src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX" crossorigin="anonymous"></script>
The important part is the number after ca-pub- — that is your unique publisher ID.
| Monthly Visitors | Est. Page Views | Est. Monthly Earnings |
|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | 2,500 | £5 – £20 |
| 5,000 | 12,500 | £25 – £100 |
| 20,000 | 50,000 | £100 – £400 |
| 100,000 | 250,000 | £500 – £2,000 |
Estimates based on a financial calculator site RPM of £2–£8. Actual earnings vary based on visitor location, device, and ad competition. UK and US visitors typically generate higher earnings than other regions.
The single most effective way to grow traffic to a calculator site is through search engine optimisation (SEO) — getting your pages to appear in Google search results when people search for things like "mortgage calculator UK" or "VAT calculator". Your site is already well-structured for SEO, with clear page titles, editorial content, and a sitemap.
The key steps to grow organic traffic are: (1) add more calculators — each new calculator is a new page that can rank for its own search terms; (2) submit your sitemap to Google Search Console (explained below) so Google discovers your pages faster; (3) share your calculators on social media, forums, and relevant communities; and (4) build links to your site from other websites.
New sites typically take 3–6 months to start receiving meaningful organic traffic from Google, as Google needs time to crawl, index, and assess the quality of your content. Consistency — adding new calculators regularly — is the most reliable path to growth.
Google Search Console is a free tool from Google that lets you see how your website is performing in Google Search. Think of it as a dashboard that shows you which of your pages Google has found and indexed, which search terms people are using to find your site, and whether there are any technical problems Google has spotted.
It is completely separate from AdSense — AdSense is about earning money from adverts, while Search Console is about understanding and improving your visibility in Google Search. You do not need Search Console for AdSense to work, but it is very useful for growing your traffic over time.
The most important thing you can do in Search Console is submit your sitemap — the file at https://www.calculators-now.com/sitemap.xml — which tells Google about all the pages on your site. Without this, Google may take weeks or months to discover your pages on its own. With it, Google typically finds and indexes your pages within a few days.
